Willow Glen Marriage Therapy and Counseling

Being a psychotherapist, I personally look at each patient as an individual. I ask questions and listen closely to aid each person I work with arrive at a deeper knowing of who he or she is. A number of the actual challenges tackled within a therapy visit might have to do with one’s years as a child, significant transitions, areas of strength, as well as the relationships that have contributed to who the individual is today and who they aspire to be down the road.

Experiences and life events can be very meaningful. All too often, the meaning can be overlooked and it can be a challenge to work through by oneself. Psychotherapy is ideal for revisiting differing parts of one’s daily life. In the process, one can enjoy a much more cohesive knowing of who she or he is.  Psychotherapy can help in letting go of elements of feeling and behaviors that do not serve the person and permit in new ones that will.

Psychotherapy can be an effective way of treating one’s core wounds. Often, these exposed areas require help from someone else. Without having this assistance, one can feel anxious, depressed, irritable, or somehow out of alignment with his or her true self. I give my clientele ample room to listen to themselves when they communicate. There are not many areas in one’s life where one can readily express anything on his or her mind; a spot where a man or woman may be entirely genuine. Psychotherapy is a powerful tool to aid in gaining self-knowledge and healing.

San Jose Depression Counseling is offered in the offices of Dr. Dorsay. .

Major depression may manifest in many different ways. Individuals who suffer the pain of depression tend to experience depressed feelings much of the day, nearly every day of the week, and encounter diminished interest in most things. They also can experience feelings of worthlessness or remorse, tiredness or a decrease in vitality, decreased capacity to focus or concentrate, sleeplessness or oversleeping, lack of appetite or over-eating, recurrent thoughts of dying or committing suicide: A few have thoughts like, “what’s the point of living?” When it goes on for too long, it may affect the way they think about themselves, their relationships, their school work, or job life. Over time, effective psychotherapy can aid in reducing or even remove the symptoms of major depression as well as lead towards a more gratifying everyday life.

Men and women who have anxiety symptoms can feel uneasy at best and extremely affected at worst. Individuals report signs and symptoms such as extreme stress which is generally hard to manage, sleep disruption, irritability, uneasiness, low energy, muscle tension, or difficulty concentrating. There tends to be some concerns underlying the anxiety  that this individual suffering is either unacquainted with or chooses to ignore. As an individual handles the unpleasant or distressing points that bring about the anxiety, it generally subsides.

Grief is a feeling or experience people have when they have suffered loss. Grief may be the reaction to the death of a loved one, or it can be the reaction to any kind of significant loss. Symptoms associated with grief can imitate those associated with depressive disorders, however the source is more particular. Once the feelings associated with the loss are worked through, over time, the sentiments of sadness usually recede.

Also I work with couples. While we work together, we examine the misunderstandings, blockages, along with older injuries so that each individual feels a deeper closeness within the couple. In the process, the couple may experience an atmosphere associated with deeper and more fulfilling connection inside themselves and with each other.

In my practice with young people and teenagers, I offer play therapy and other innovative methods for personal expression and offer a safe environment to talk through various painful feelings. I work with youngsters who are experiencing the effects of a divorce as well as with their mothers and fathers so that they can better support their kids with the myriad thoughts and feelings involving distress, loss, anger or unhappiness that could be the aftermath of any break up. This has the potential to facilitate a greater level of internal tranquility and comfort with the person that permits a larger sense of connectedness to themselves, their family, and their social network.
